Campaign Biography and Political Positions of Kathleen Abaie

Hello Cave Creek Residents. Thank you for being involved in our Town’s election process. My name is Kathleen Abaie and I am running for Town Council and am asking for your vote. My family moved to Arizona in 2007. We initially lived in Cave Creek, then to the Desert Hills area and back to Cave Creek where we have always been drawn. Cave Creek is a unique and beautiful Town filled with wonderful people of varied backgrounds. We chose Cave Creek as our home for many of the same reasons you have. My heart belongs to Cave Creek. I have followed the activities of Cave Creek since moving to Arizona. Those activities have been good, bad and comical.

As a horse owner, I’ve ridden the many beautiful trails in Cave Creek. At one point, I had five Quarter Horses. Three were amazing trail horses. Two were cute minis and a lot of fun. I’ve only one horse today who is happily retired so now I hike the trails with my pooch. The trail system is a vital and important aspect of Cave Creek to both our residents, wildlife habitat and others who are drawn to our slice of heaven.

I am a wife to an amazing man of 44 years, mother to awesome adult children and wonderful grandchildren. I assisted my husband with his business for 28 years until he retired. I enjoy staying active. I am the owner of a bookkeeping business with multiple clients in various markets. I love numbers and using their stories to plan for the future. My degree is in business administration and health sciences. I ask a lot of questions in finding solutions to problems and situations. I am a deep diver when it comes to doing the research involved to make informed decisions.

Cave Creek is a pretty stable viable community; however, we face many challenges as we move forward. The goal is to remain a fiscally healthy, safe and viable community as we navigate the growth that has hit the North and Northwest Valley. A few of my many concerns are focused on community, public safety, fire safety, of course-water, managing the growth and how it effects our citizens and landscape of the Town. Focusing on the Town’s ordinances with an eye on the General Plan and established Strategic Visions will be critical. This is especially important as the State of Arizona makes statewide legislative changes that affect us. Not every ordinance that the Planning and Zoning Committee wants to update needs to be a blanket ordinance. What do I mean by that? Changing ordinances that can be applied in a broad scope on the commercial core also means it can be applied in the Town Core. Our Town Core is our heart. Our heart should be protected and beautified and not reflect the same look and feel as the commercial core on Carefree Highway.

An important aspect of me that you should know is that I truly believe that elected officials represent the community that elected them. I am an independent thinker that wants to hear all sides of an issue. I ask questions. Everything is a priority and we all love living here. I’ve attended Council meetings for well over two years. I’ve volunteered on and attended committee meetings on issues facing the Town. I want to unite Cave Creek, to work to protect us as the impending growth moves closer, to keep us viable as a Town; safe, protected and find solutions to benefit all of us. Cave Creek is not just a town at the north end of Phoenix and Scottsdale. We are comprised of many facets and individuals that all have an important role in who we are. I respect all of it, all of you and want to help manage and usher in the challenges that face our Town to the benefit of Cave Creek. I will be transparent and do my best to keep the community informed.

Thank you and I ask for your vote on July 21, 2026.
